My husband has stayed there previously and knew where it was. We parked, covered the boat and proceeded to the entrance juggling our items for the evening. When we got to the entrance, it was closed and stated we needed to walk around to the main entrance. It would've been nice to have a heads up prior to parking and unloading our luggage.
We got inside only to be told by Security that it's recommended my husband have a mask. Guess what, in all the chaos he dropped his mask and I had to go out to grab it Go walk all the way around the building to search around and then walk all the way around the building again to get in with it.
Check-in was great. The woman at the desk had a sign saying she was in-training. I thought she did an excellent job. We got to our room, which we had no issues with and proceeded to get ready for dinner. The room was about what we were expecting. Not rundown, but nothing fancy. We did like having the fridge in the room. We went to dinner and guess what?
Almost every restaurant was closed. That was a very disappointing. He had a place in mind for us to eat and it wasn't open. But we found a place to eat eventually. Our Waiter was wonderful and very attentive. It was cooked perfect, just had no flavor to it. Drinks and service was great. Headed back to the room and saw the pool on the way.
This is one of the main reasons we booked. I looked on your website prior to booking to see specifically that it was open. The website made NO mention of it. Had I known previously or been told at check-in we would have continued onto the Days Inn in Hinkley as was our original plan.
We went to our rooms disappointed in the experience as a whole and wondered about leaving. Had the weather not been awful and we didn't have to walk around the entire building to get there, we would have left.
I really think that you should be much more upfront with your guests about what you have open and closed so they know what to expect. Even if it's the front desk notifying them at check-in. It would be much better than the disappointment later. At least I'd have known what I was paying for and could make an educated decision we'd have chosen to leave because that was the main amenity we wanted. The mask issue within the hotel and casino area was confusing.
The Security Guard told my husband it was, "Recommended" however, others told him it was required. However, many of the employees were wearing them under their chins, etc. I don't really care because we are not mask wearers unless required, but would have been nice to have a clear cut rule if it's recommended or required. Also, I highly suggest when there are tornado warnings you at least let those within the Casino know there is something going on.
If they want to continue gambling fine; but was surprised there wasn't even an announcement made and many had no idea what was happening outside. Date of stay: August Value. Sleep Quality. Room Tip: We were room - kinda cool view of the fountain directly below.

Although there were social distancing markings and sign around the hotel, elevator and restaurants there were none on the casino floor! All machines were open and as far as cleaning was concerned, we saw very few employees wiping down machines. This was on a weekend as well.
We didn't run into any other employees on our room floor or in the lobby area. The staff at the hotel desk was friendly as well as in the small dining area. Beverage service was offered both evenings and employees were very nice. The room was very average and in great need of maintenance as well as remodeling. The 3rd floor where are room was located looked like it hadn't been vacumed for several days. I think the property needs to spend more time on making sure the environment is clean and friendly.
Their was a cigerette disposal container right outside the main hotel door and it appeared to be full as it was smoldering with smoke coming out the top. Disappointing visit but will try again in the next few months hoping for improvements overall. It is too bad it took a pandemic for management to take seriously the effects of smoking on employees and the guests.
I have been there 2x since they re-opened and only found a handful of people either outside or in the smoking lounge they converted. If anything hopefully management will recognize the experience for those that do not smoke instead of viewing smoking as an "amenity" instead of a potential health risk! What pleasure it was to play and not worry about someone sitting next to you and lighting up forcing you to either move to another machine or inhale a cigarette you are not smoking.
Not to mention going up to your room or going home and smelling like an ashtray! Date of stay: July Rooms. Room Tip: Ask for a luxury king on the southside of the hotel.
